Unordinary Camping Tips from the Pros
When you camp at Ghost Mountain Ranch RV Resort, we know that you are looking for convenient, relaxing, fun in the sun. We do our best to provide you with ample options from our pools, snack bar, and other amenities to the quiet nights and rustic living.
As an added bonus, we’ve put together a list to make your RV vacation even better. We’ve asked our expert campers about their favorite tricks of the trade, and they have helped us compile an out of the box list of RV camping tips.
Pancakes in a Bottle
Looking for some carbs to start your day before your morning hike? Once the sausage and eggs are done on your griddle, you can add pancakes to the meal as well. Come to the campsite with pre-mixed pancake batter in an old ketchup bottle. EZ Squeeze isn’t just for condiments anymore. The ketchup bottle makes the batter easy to store, prevents messy cleanup, and even offers a way to make shaped pancakes for the little ones in your group.
Shelf and Pantry Linear
As long as we’re on the subject of food, adding a linear to your pantries, cabinets, and shelves will prevent your ingredients from rolling around on the trip. We all know the feeling of spending the day in the sun ready to come home and cook dinner, only to find the jars leaking through our cabinets. Make sure all your food items are stored securely before setting off on an RV adventure.
Peppermint Spider Repellent
That’s right, the scent of peppermint discourages spiders from entering an area. Keep a Glade peppermint plugin scenting your RV or make sure you have plenty of mints on hand for after dinner to keep the creepy crawlies out of your motorhome and have your living space smell like the holidays.
Plan – Budget, Schedule, Ration
Planning may seem like an obvious bit of advice, but new comers and experience RV campers alike often skip this step. It is important you have a written agenda for your party so that everyone will know when the activities happen to make the most of their RV camping trip. A tallied budget will keep you from overspending and help you enjoy your relaxing vacation without worrying about funds. Considering how much food is needed for your motorhome travels, means that you won’t over pack and you can keep everyone full and healthy.
Weather Proofing Your RV
Everyone in the north knows to insulate their pipes in the winter to prevent water damage, but did you know it’s just as important to do the same for your motorhome? While most RVs are built for winter weather, it is still important to add a quart of pink antifreeze to your black and gray water tanks, insulate your drainpipes with foam pipe insulation, and wrap your sewer hose in insulation or heat tape.
